PCR test

The term is derived from the term Polymerase Chain Reaction and describes a test method in which a short DNA strand is amplified in vitro in order to detect, among other things, infectious agents. Due to both its speed and its accuracy, the test is used in medical diagnostics. Other areas of application include genetic fingerprinting, clarification of hereditary diseases or paternity tests.
